2/15 - Nease vs Highland Park: Varsity Wins First Contest Against Lake Highland
On Thursday, 2/15, Nease High School girls lacrosse opened their season with an impressive win over Lake Highland Prep from Orlando. Leading the team on offense were Jess Gimbel with 6 goals and 1 assist and Casey Francis with 2 goals and 5 assists. Ali Lancashire followed with 3 goals, Julia Walker and Nicole White added to the 13-4 final score. An outstanding defense was led by Madi Fehling, joined by Meghan and Michele Newton and goal keeper Chelsea Lancashire with 17 saves. JV battled to the end with a 5-4 loss. Nease will play away at Fleming Island Friday, February 16th, at 5:50 pm. The next home will be against Apopka on Friday, the 23rd, at Nease.
2/17 - Nease vs Fleming Island: Varsity Girls Grab Second Win in Clay County
Nease Girls Lacrosse traveled to Clay County to take on Fleming Island. Under chilly conditions the Nease girls played a fast and physical game with the final score Nease 10 - Fleming Island 1. The entire Nease team contributed to the win. Casey Francis, Katelyn Racz and Nicole White each scored 2 goals. Anna Egeln, Bailee Hedstrom, Kelly Hawkins and Sterling Spencer contributed one each. Jessica Smith led the defense with 3 ground balls and 2 interceptions. The next Nease Girls lacrosse game with be away against Bishop Moore on Tuesday February 20th. The girls will play at home Friday against Apopka, JV plays at 5:30 and varsity at 7pm.
2/20 - Nease vs Bishop Moore: Big Third Win Against Highly Ranked Bishop Moore
True to the game of lacrosse Nease Varsity girls battled to victory over Bishop Moore HS in Orlando Tuesday evening. The final score was Nease 10 - Bishop Moore 6. Tied going into the half, the Nease girls scored consecutive goals to take the lead. Jess Gimbel led the team with 3 goals while Casey Francis and Bailee Hedstrom each had 2 goals. Anna Egeln, Kate O'Linn and Nicole White rounded out the score with 1 goal each. Casey Francis lead the team on defense with both ground balls and interceptions. The JV took a tough defeat 5-4. The next home game is Friday February 23rd. JV plays at 5:30, Varsity at 7pm. The girls host University on Saturday the 24th. JV plays at 8:30am. Varsity at 10am.
2/23 & 2/24- Nease vs Apopka & Nease vs University: Nease Girls Varsity Lacrosse Undefeated.
After playing back to back games, the Nease High School Varsity girls lacrosse are undefeated with a record 5-0. Playing Apopka High School Friday evening, the Varsity girls won 12-2. Saturday's game against University produced another win (16-6). Leading scorers in the University game were Nicole White with 4 goals and Ali Lancashire with 3 goals and 2 assists. Nicole Nadeau, Katelynn Racz, Bailee Hedstrom, Kate O'Linn all had 2 goals. JV girls scored their first two wins this weekend, Friday against Apopka (10-6) and Saturday against University (9-5). Leading the scoring for the JV were Francesca Fontanez and Catie Kurzanski. The next Varsity home game is Friday evening against West Orange at 7pm. Varsity and JV will play Lake Brantley at home Friday, March 9th, at 5:30 and 7pm respectively.
2/27 - Nease vs Stanton Prep: Girls Score Sixth Win!
Nease played host to the team from Stanton Prep on Tuesday night. Grabbing their 6th victory and protecting their undefeated record, the final score was 15-2. Leading scorer was Brita Abram with 3 goals followed by Cameron Dobbs and Kelly Hawkins who each scored 2 goals. Defense was led by goalie Natalie Hughs who had 8 saves. Next game is Friday, March 2nd at 7pm at Nease.
3/3 - Nease Plays in 2nd Annual Sebastian Classic Against Top Schools, Nease Wins One & Loses One!
The Nease Varsity Girl’s Lacrosse team as they traveled to central Florida, Saturday, March 4th for the Sebastian Classic Lacrosse tournament. Playing against top teams in the state, the Nease girls made a name for themselves when they beat St. Edward’s of Vero Beach, 8-6. Contributing goals to the win were Jess Gimbel, Bailee Hedstrom, Anna Egeln, Madi Fehling and Alie Lancashire. Leading scorer Casey Francis exited the game with an injury. Then, playing the number two team in the state, Park Vista, the Lady Panthers did not fare so well as the girls
were defeated 14-7. Stand-out defenders included Madi Fehling, Julie Catalano, Nicole Nadeau and goalie Chelsea Lancashire. With a record now of 7 wins and 1 loss, the Nease Varsity girls will play Fletcher on Tuesday, March 6th at home, and then will also host the #1 team in the state, Lake Brantley (Orlando), on Friday, March 9th. The JV will play at 5:30, and the Varsity squad at 7:00pm.
3/6 - Nease vs Fletcher
Another win for Nease Varsity Girls Lacrosse. Nease girls met first-year team Fletcher High School from Jacksonville Beach Tuesday March 6th at Nease. The initial first few minutes set the pace for the battle as Nease and Fletcher scored. Without lead scorer Casey Francis (out with an injury) Nease offense took off and pulled it together for another win - final score 15-4. Friday night Nease will meet Lake Brantley (rated #1 in the state) at Nease. JV will play at 5:30, Varsity at 7pm.
3/9 - Nease vs Lake Brantley: Two Tough losses
Despite the efforts of both goalies, the Varsity and JV Nease girls lacrosse teams fell to Lake Brantley High School from Orlando on Friday March 9th. JV goalie Natalie Hughes had 19 saves. Francesca Fontanez scored two points just after the half joined by Brita Abrams with two but it wasn't enough to win. The final score was Nease 4, Lake Brantley 10. The varsity defense fought hard with Nicole Nadeau, Madi Fehling, and Michelle Newton leading the way. Goalie Chelsea Lancashire stood strong with over 17 saves. Again it wasn't enough to hold the Patriot's down with a final score of Nease 6 - Lake Brantley 19. Nease will play Flagler High School on Monday March 13th at home. JV will play at 5:30 with Varsity playing at 7pm. Nease Varsity will play Bartram High School at Bartram on Thursday March 15th at 6pm.
3/12 - Varsity & JV Top Teams from Flagler
Both squads were victorious Monday evening. JV won 13-6 and Varsity 15-10. The Varsity win was lead by Bailee Hedstrom, Alie Lancashire and Jess Gimbel as leading scorers. Defense was led by Chelsea Lancashire with 15 saves in the goal. Our next game at Bartram on Thursday begins at 6 pm.
3/15 - Nease vs Bartram Trail
Nease varsity girls lacrosse met Bartram Trail High School Thursday March 15th. After a battle in the beginning with back and forth scoring, Nease girls rose to the occasion with a win 8-4. Leading scorer was Jess Gimbel, with Anna Egeln, Bailee Hedstrom & Ali Lancashire each scoring a goal. Defense led by Kate O'Linn, Sterling Spencer and Emily Howard kept the second half score at 4. The lady Panthers will meet Matanzas and St. Timothy's from Maryland on Tuesday March 20th at Nease, 5:30 & 7:30 games.
3/15 - Nease vs Oviedo
Last night both the Nease JV and Varsity girl's lacrosse squads were defeated at home by a powerful team from central Florida, Oviedo High School. JV: Oviedo 7 Nease 5, Varsity: Oviedo 17 Nease 8. The next game for Lady Panther lacrosse is away vs. Pedro Menendez on Tuesday, March 27th.
3/27 - Nease vs Pedro Menendez
On Tuesday evening the Nease Varsity team won big at Pedro Menendez High School in St. Augustine. Leading scorers for the Panthers with 4 goals each were Julia Walker & Leilani Hedstrom. Following closely behind with three goals was Frankie Fontanez. Among the other scorers for the team in the 18-3 win were Callie Francis, Catie Kurzanski, Brita Abram, Cody Boland and Cameron Dobbs. Next up is Nequea Valley (IL) for our Senior Night game on Thursday, 3/29.
3/29 - Nease vs Nequea Valley (IL)
In the final Nease Girl's Varsity Lacrosse home game, freshman standouts Nicole White and Amanda Santillo helped the Panthers to a 17 to 10 victory over visiting opponent, Nequea Valley High School (Chicago, IL). Santillo scored 4 goals and White scored 2 goals in the win. The leading scorer was Alie Lancashire with 5 goals. Other players contributing goals were Bailee Hedstrom 3, Jess Gimbel 1, Kate O'Linn 1, and Brita Abram 1. Graduating seniors Emily Howard, Megan Newton, Michelle Newton, and Kate O'Linn were recognized in a Senior Night ceremony. With a record of 13 wins and 4 losses, the Nease Girl's Lacrosse team next plays Winter Springs High School tonight (Friday) in Winter Springs. There last regular season game will be on Thursday, April 5th, when the Lady Panthers visit Lake Mary High School.
3/30 - Nease vs Winter Springs
On March 30th Nease girls met Winter Springs in Orlando. Ending in a loss the battle was well fought as Ali Lancashire scored 4 goals, Anna Egeln and Jess Gimbel for 3 and Amanda Santillo scored 2 for a final score of 12-17.
4/5 - Nease vs Lake Mary
Nease girls lacrosse finished their season with a win (11-6) at Lake Mary this past week. Coach McCord was pleased with the offensive teamwork the girls displayed. Leading scorers were Jess Gimbel with 4, Amanda Santillo with 3, Anna Egeln with 2. Bailee Hedstrom and Nichole White each had 1. With 19 saves goalie Chelsea Lancashire and the defense held Lake Mary to 6 goals. Nease girls will meet the winner of the Matanzas vs Flagler game for the District Championship game. Nease will be the home team but due to the damage to the Nease football stadium the site for the play-off game is to be determined. The game will be played Thursday April 12th at 5:30.
4/12 - Nease vs Flagler Palm Coast (District Title Game)
The Lady Panthers won their first ever District Title on Thursday against Flagler Palm Coast. The final score was 17-4. The Panthers are now 15-5 and positioned to be seeded 5th out of 9 teams for the Regional Playoffs. Kate O'Linn led the defense with 5 ground balls and 4 forced turnovers. Offense was led by Bailee Hedstrom and Amanda Santillo with 4 goals each. Alie Lancashire and Jess Gimbel each had 3 goals and Anna Egeln, Kate O'Linn and Jess Wawrzyniak all had 1 goal. The next games is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 18 at 6:00 pm at Edgewater H.S. in Orlando.
